We recognize that customers deal with a variety of issues when it comes to their households. The economy has been difficult for many Texans, and at times, you may have found yourself in need of assistance.

Below you will find information on how you can receive help to keep your electricity on along with additional energy assistance programs available for Texas families and residents.

You can also contact us to request possible assistance through any available funds. We may direct you to an assistance agency to receive the funds.

Get Help Paying Your Electric Bill

Request a Deferred Payment Plan

A deferred payment plan allows a customer to pay an outstanding balance in installments that extend beyond the due date of the current bill. This can alleviate the stress of having to pay the full bill at one time and prevents disconnection without additional notice for non-payment. We make deferred payment plans available, upon request, to our residential customers:

  • For bills that become due during an extreme weather emergency.
  • As directed by the PUCT during a state of disaster declared by the governor in the area covered by the declaration.

We are currently offering deferred payment plans to our customers consistent with current PUCT requirements.

Please note: A switch-hold may be placed on your account for the deferred payment plan that prevents you from switching providers until the deferred balance is paid in full. You can pay the balance in full at any time to release the switch-hold.

For more information on deferred payment plans, please contact us.

Seek a Payment Arrangement

A payment arrangement is an agreement with your electricity provider that allows you to pay the outstanding bill after its due date, but before the due date of the next bill. If a disconnection notice is issued before a payment arrangement is made with us, that disconnection will be suspended until after the payment due date agreed upon.

Please note: If you do not fulfill the terms of the payment arrangement, service may be disconnected after the later of the due date for the payment arrangement or the disconnection date indicated in the original notice, without issuing an additional disconnection notice.

For more information on payment arrangements, please contact us.

Call 2-1-1

If you are seeking financial assistance with your bill, you can contact 2-1-1 Texas for information about services or agencies in your area that may offer utility assistance. Dial 2-1-1 from your phone or 877-541-7905, select your language, then choose Option 1. You may also visit 211texas.org.
